Whether you are attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally or just visiting the area, there are many activities to see in the beautiful Black Hills and surrounding area. It’s a great place to spend a few days. You may even want to stay a few days after the motorcycle festivities are over. Here are a few of the more prominent attractions for you to visit.

If you want to take a day to head over to Mount Rushmore, it’s certainly something you shouldn’t miss. The giant heads carved into the mountain will be a memorable experience for the whole family, and you can be back at your Sturgis lodging by nightfall.

The Crazy Horse memorial is another thing you shouldn’t miss out on. Constructed by precisely placed explosive blasts, this huge statue is something that is definitely worth the short trip it takes to get there. It shares the Black Hills with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, so you’re already in the same region.

If you are up for an outdoor adventure, the Black Hills National Forest provides over a million acres of pure forest for you to hike, ride, 4 wheel, canoe or climb in to your hearts content.

The National Caves are an amazing sight to see as well. They are among the largest cave systems in the world. Tours run on a regular basis, so if you just check for the specific times beforehand then you will be able to witness an amazing spectacle.

For another great hiking opportunity, you should consider trekking through the Badlands. This is a harsh environment with a romantic beauty about it. It is a tough hike and you will need plenty of water, but it is certainly a memorable experience. There are also many opportunities for ATV-riding in this area.

The Black Hills of South Dakota are infamous for being home to some of the most impressive natural attractions and wildlife. From the expansive underground caves to the beautiful yet barren Badlands, you will have no shortage of outdoorsy activities extremely close to the Sturgis Road Campground.
